Community Follow-Up Discussion for Creative Interruption
Creative Interruption: Transformative Testimony in Violent Times was a one-day gathering hosted by Theology & Peace. Thirty-seven of us met in person to learn from Wolfgang Palaver, president of Pax Christi Austria, and R. Clifton Spargo & Anne K. Ream, founders of Center for Story & Witness. Come share what you learned and learn what was shared!
Contaminating Peace with Billie Hoard and Paul Hoard
Too many theological accounts of peace treat violence as a contaminant to be held off — by walls, by just war doctrine, or by empires that promise safety in exchange for loyalty. Paul Hoard and Billie Hoard turn that logic inside out. Drawing on their concept of eucontamination, they argue that shalom itself functions as a contaminant.
Creative Interruption: Transformative Testimony in Violent Times
Join us in Chicago on July 7 ahead of COV&R 2026 for a special one-day event featuring brand new material from Wolfgang Palaver and practical teaching from Center for Story & Witness.
Mimesis at the Movies: Charlotte Seven featuring Dr. Julia Robinson Moore
Dr. Julia Robinson Moore hosts us in a discussion of Charlotte Seven, a documentary film about her work leading a diverse team of architects, students, and historians on a powerful mission: to restore dignity to forgotten African American burial grounds in Charlotte.
Quarterly Speaker Series: Dr. Vanessa Avery and Dr. Yehezkel Landau
Dr. Vanessa Avery and Dr. Yehezkel Landau present an interactive workshop exploring a holistic approach to peacemaking amid polarization. Using the Israeli-Palestinian crisis as a case study, they’ll engage participants in the political, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of conflict transformation.
Mimesis at the Movies: Strictly Ballroom
Before there was Moulin Rouge!... before Romeo + Juliet... Baz Luhrmann gave the world a musical entitled Strictly Ballroom that was later adapted for the screen. Come join Theology & Peace as we explore how a singular performance can transform an entire population.
